Currently, the surveying, design specifications, construction costs, budget and time line are under development for this estimated $1.2- 1.5 million state-of-the-art athletic facility on the campus of Vermont Technical College.

A multi-phase project, the construction of a stadium-like soccer field and track is the goal. Upper Valley Track Club members (join now), community leaders and Vermont Technical College(VTC) administration and staff have come together and created a common vision for a new facility to meet the growing needs of the student body and greater community of the upper valley. Your donations go toward both the soccer field and the track.

Our KickOff fundraising event is on Dec. 5th, 2009 at the VTC Student Center/SHAPE facility. Overlooking the proposed site, the complete dinner and Silent Auction officially START the fundraising program that evening. Event organizers will present construction plans, budget and time line, while dinner and auction proceeds will go directly to the track and field.

Athlete of the month

Holly Mugford

This UVM sophomore is a music education student who practices and plans to compete with the University of Vermont Track and Field Team this coming spring as a thrower. She's an accomplished actress and musician from Randolph, having graduated from Randolph Union High School with honors in 2008. She's also widely recognized as the cover girl on the Randolph phone book.

Holly started developing her skills as a Little League All-Star when she was eleven years old, playing outfield on Randolph's state championship team. In junior high and high school, Mugford played soccer, basketball and softball in her early years. Wanting to perform with the RUHS drama troupe, she left the basketball court to grace the stage and also transitioned from softball to track and field, where she was seen and heard rehearsing her lines while training.

In her junior year, and first year as a thrower, Holly progressed from a 78' to 96' javelin thrower, making a splash with fifth place finishes at the Essex Invitational and the Division 2 State Meet. She also learned a little about the sprints and the shot put that year. Continuing in her senior year, she threw over 100' early in the season and progressed to 28' in the shot put. At the Essex Invitational, she put a personal best of 30'10" and took second in javelin. Moving on to the Division 2 State meet, she was Randolph's double runner up, taking second in javelin with a 110'5" and second in the shot put at 31'2", scoring a seventh place finish for the Randolph team and hanging Randolph's first track banner.

Since her high school days, she's performed on several occasions at UVM and at Chandler Music Hall. Recently, she's become part of the cadre of national anthem soloists at UVM sporting events. Whether on the stage or on the field, Mugford is known as a clutch performer and shows much potential for throwing big with the UVM team.
